I've been wanting to try Maitre but never got the chance to until now.
Maitre Chocolatier is a boutique cafe by a local distributor of European chocolate brands such as Ferrero from Italy, Ritter from Germany, Lindt and Villars from Switzerland, Valor from Spain and so on. They offer an assortment of creative dishes that incorporate these premium chocolates.
Upon entering the cafe, EJ and I were instantly greeted by the sight of chocolate everywhere. To the left of the door, there is a black and white namesake wall that is perfect for taking photos. On the opposite side, there is an ice cream freezer, a cake chiller and a display of gift baskets for sale. After giving the cafe a once over, we were seated at the table in front of the bar. The place, although smaller than I expected, is softly lit, cozy and intimate.

We ordered the Pumpkin Soup for starters. It was light and creamy. The chocolate is evident in the taste, adding just the right amount of sweetness to the pumpkin.

EJ ordered the Grilled Chicken in Chocolate with Pomegranate Sauce and of course, I had a taste. The chicken, coated in Lindt Excellence 70%, was tender and cooked just right. The taste of the dark chocolate in the chicken was distinct and the tangy pomegranate sauce complemented it well.

I ordered the White Chocolate Carbonara. After having the soup and EJ's chicken first, this was a bit of a disappointment as it lacked the subtlety of the other two. It was too sweet and it had a bitter taste to it. The bacon was soggy too. I also find it weird that they serve pasta with a lettuce leaf (probably to add color to the dish) instead of a cracker/bread stick/slice of toast. IMO, a pasta dish isn't complete without some sort of crunch so I just had to request for bread sticks (yeah, carbs on carbs on carbs) and was given some.
For dessert, EJ and I shared Sweet Revenge (Lindt Molten Lava Cake). This dessert had all the right components. The luxurious chocolate cake, the decadent sauce, the cold vanilla ice cream and the crisp pastry put together in a single bite blew my mind. Midway through dessert, I wanted to stop sharing it and was tempted to order another. Among all that we've ordered, this is my absolute favorite.

All in all, Maitre Cafe is a great place to satisfy chocolate cravings. Perfect for casual dates, small gatherings and intimate meals. A culinary experience all chocoholics must try.
